Steve Leslie is the only Colgate wrestler ever to win an Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association title. In 1980, he came off a bedridden illness to capture the 150-pound title at the Easterns, and went on to compete in the NCAA Championship. He finished his senior year with a 26-2 record, and became only the second wrestler in history to capture three New York State titles. Leslie’s career mark was 76 wins, 20 losses and two ties. Following graduation, Leslie joined the Marine Corp and in the spring of 1988 he was shot down and killed over the Persian Gulf while on a mission against Iran forces.
