Hal Lahar served as Colgate’s fourth athletic director from 1967- 1973. He came to Colgate as head football coach in 1952, a position he held twice. His first tenure ended in 1956, when he left for a similar position at the University of Houston. Lahar came back to coach football at Colgate from 1962-1967 In 1965, he was named assistant director of athletics. In 11 years as head football coach, Lahar guided the Red Raiders to an overall record of 53-40-8. In 1966, he guided the Red Raiders to their best season in 34 years, compiling an 8-1-1 mark He finished his coaching career behind Andy Kerr in victories at Colgate.
