She finished her Colgate basketball career as the university’s all-time leading scorer with 1,666 points -- the first Colgate woman to surpass the 1,000-point mark. She also set school records for most points in a game (36) and in a season (473), most field goals in a season (191), consecutive free throws (17) and most steals in a game (10), season (86) and career (260). As co-captain her senior year, Sarah finished second in Player of the Year voting in the Upstate New York Women’s Basketball Conference. For those accomplishments and more, Sarah's No. 24 was retired and hangs in Cotterell Court. In lacrosse as a sophomore and junior, Sarah led Colgate to a fourth-place finish in the AIAW Division II Nationals. She set a school record for most goals in a season (49) and became only the second Colgate woman to score more than 100 career goals. Her field hockey successes included a second-place finish in the AIAW Division II Nationals as a freshman and a fifth-place finish as a sophomore. Gersky was inducted into the Delaware Basketball Hall of Fame in January 2018 for accomplishments not only in her home state but also at Colgate. She then was inducted into the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame in May 2018 for all of her different athletic accomplishments in basketball, lacrosse and field hockey.
