Andy McDonald was a standout hockey player for the Raiders between 1997-00. In his senior year, he was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award which is given annually to the top U.S. Collegiate Player and was a first team All-America selection. During his collegiate career, McDonald totaled 67 goals and 88 helpers for 155 points in 137 games. He scored 19 points (9-10-19) as a freshman and increased his point total every season, scoring 32 points as a sophomore (13-19) and 46 points as a junior (20-26) and 58 points in his final season (25-33). In senior season he was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was selected to the All-ECAC first team, while leading Colgate to a 24-9-2 record, including a 14-4-2 mark in the ECAC standings. McDonald led the ECAC in points, goals and assists (16-20-36) and had the second highest points per game average in the nation (1.71). Following graduation he signed with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks of the National Hockey League, and became the first Colgate player to put his name on the Stanley Cup in 2007. He was also named to the NHL AllStar team in 2007.
