Dave Wolf was a three-year letterwinner in football. In his senior year, he was named first team Division I-AA All-America by the American Football Coaches Association at linebacker, and honorable mention on the Associated Press All-America team, while leading the Red Raiders to the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs. He was also an ECAC Division I-AA allstar. Wolf was Colgate's leading tackler in his junior season with 150 and set a single-season school record in his senior year with 196. He received the team's Hal W. Lahar Trophy, as the outstanding defensive player in 1982. As a junior, he was second team Associated Press All East.
