Jen Hughes lettered four years in soccer (1993-96) for the Raiders, serving as co-captain for the 1996 season. She finished her collegiate career as Colgate’s all-time leading scorer with 40 goals and 26 assists for 106 points. A member of the Patriot League all-Decade team, Hughes was first team all-league four times. In 1996, she was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year. In addition, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America named her to the all-Northeast Region team in 1994 and 1996. Hughes played on three Patriot League championship teams, and was MVP of the 1995 and 1996 Patriot League Tournaments. She was named to the 1996 Umbro Select College All-Star team and was invited to qualify for the US National B Women’s Soccer team at the 1998 U.S. National Soccer Festival. Following graduation, Hughes played semi-professional soccer for the New York Magic of the USISL “W” League in 1998 and for Tyreso FF’s damlaget of the Swedish Allsvenskan Futbol League in 1999, before returning to Colgate as an assistant coach. In 2015, she was named to the Patriot League 25th all-anniversary women's soccer team.
