Jack Call was a three-year letterwinner in football between 1954-56. During his collegiate career, he was Colgate’s leading rusher in 1955 (402 yards) and 1956 (479 yards). He was the Red Raiders’ leading scorer both seasons and ranked eighth in the country in scoring in 1956. Following his collegiate days, Call was drafted in the 13th round of the National Football League draft by the Baltimore Colts. He played for the Colts in 1957 and 1958 before moving to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1959 season. Call also lettered in track (twice) and lacrosse (once). In track, he set Colgate standards for the 100 and 220-yard dashes.
