Betsy Cunningham was a four-year cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field athlete for the Raiders while serving as team captain in all three sports as a junior and senior. In cross country, she won the 1995 Patriot League Cross Country Championship and in 1996 earned all-East accolades for her 11th place finish at the ECAC Cross Country Championship. Cunningham was all-Patriot League in 1994, 1995 and 1996, and Colgate’s Outstanding Cross Country Performer in 1994, 1995, and 1996. She was also named to the Patriot League All-Decade Team in cross country (1990-99). In indoor track, Cunningham was the Patriot League’s Female Athlete of the Meet at the 1996 Indoor Track & Field Championships. She won three championships (indoor) – 1996 (1,000 meters & DMR) and 1997 (mile). She held school records in the triple jump, 1000, mile and was a member of the record-setting 4x400, 4x800 and distance medley relay teams. Cunningham was all-Patriot League Indoor Track in 94-95 (500m), 95-96 (mile, 1,000, DMR), and 96-97 (mile). In outdoor track, Cunningham held the outdoor records in the 400IH and was a member of the record-setting 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams. She won the 1997 outdoor Patriot League title in the 400 immediate hurdles and was all-Patriot League outdoor track in 1994 (400m hurdles), 1996 (1,500) and 1997 (400. IH). She was named Colgate’s Outstanding Track & Field Performer in 1996 and 1997. In 2015, Cunningham was named to the Patriot League 25th all-anniversary team in cross country.
