Bob McCall is considered one of the top two or three golfers in Colgate history During his collegiate years he participated in the NCAA tournament three consecutive seasons. As a junior in 1950, McCall was the runner-up in the intercollegiate golf championship; as a senior he was a quarterfinalist. His morning round of 66 of the 1950 final at the University of New Mexico tied the course amateur record, two strokes off Jimmy Demaret’s professional mark. McCall later won the 1956 Ohio Amateur championship and has played in the British Amateur and National Amateur on several occasions. During his undergraduate days he also lettered three seasons in football as a linebacker and center.
