 George Fishburn was a three-year letterwinner on Colgate’s baseball team. In his senior year, he set the school record for most victories in a season (10), most appearances (16), games started (13), innings pitched (107.7), winning percentage .833 (10-2), and had the second highest strikeout total (93). He was named to the Middle Atlantic District All-Star squad. Fishburn was the winning pitcher in Colgate’s 6-2 win over Southern California in the 1955 College World Series. During his career, he set school records for ERA (2.26), wins (22) and best winning percentage .846 (22-4). He was also second in games started (27) and innings pitched (223.3), and third in strikeouts (1767) and fifth in appearances (33).
