Colgate University Athletics

Karl Lawrence served eight seasons as head basketball coach at Colgate between 1941-49. He compiled a 75-55 winning record, which placed him third on the all-time victory list at Colgate. During his tenure, Lawrence was responsible for producing Colgate’s only first team AllAmerica Ernie Vandeweghe. He was a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and a member of the research and membership committees of the same organization. He also was an assistant football coach at Colgate under Andy Kerr in 1945-46.
