Gerard Waslen was a tremendous hockey player for the Raiders finishing his collegiate career as Colgate’s second all-time leading scorer with 201 points on 100 goals and 101 assists. The four-year letterwinner was named second team all-ECAC in his senior season and Colgate’s best offensive player for the third straight year. In his freshman season, Waslen broke the Colgate single-season record for most goals by a first-year player with 24. He earned the Coaches Award as the team’s most improved player leading the way with a team-high 10 power-play goals and three hat tricks. As a sophomore, he set the school’s single-season records for assists by a right wing (33), goals by a sophomore (28), points by a sophomore (61) and game-winning goals (7). The next season, Waslen led the Raiders in goals (20) and game-winning goals (7) and scored the gamewinning goal in the second overtime of the Syracuse Invitational championship game win over Lake Superior State. In his last season with the Raiders, Waslen broke Colgate’s singleseason records for points by a senior (64), assists by a right wing (36) and points by a right wing (64). His 100 career goals was second alltime and his 101 career assists ranked fourth all-time. Waslen signed a free agent contract with the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs following graduation.
