Glenn Masten lettered four years in cross country from 1939-42 and served as captain in his junior and senior seasons. He also earned three varsity letters in track between 1941-43. In his freshman season he was the IC4A cross country champion and in his senior year he was the IC4A Indoor two-mile champion. His two IC4A championships were a first in Colgate’s history. One of the best two-milers in the country he won 90 percent of his dual meets in college. Masten finished second behind world record holder Greg Rice of Notre Dame at the Knights of Columbus Meet in Cleveland and again at the Penn Relays in his senior year.
