Whit Jaeger was a highly-regarded running back and safety for the Red Raider football team from 1935-37. His collegiate career was highlighted by his selection on several postseason All-America teams in 1936 and 1937. He was said to be one of Colgate’s best running backs of all-time. Defensively with Jaeger at safety no opponent scored against Colgate in three years from beyond the 10-yard line. In his senior year, Jaeger was a Heisman Trophy candidate while being picked for the Walter Camp and Grantland Rice All-America teams. He also lettered in hockey and track.
