HALL OF HONOR
Lynne Wertz was the first Colgate woman athlete to win 12 varsity letters, earning four each in field hockey, basketball and lacrosse. A strong leader during her collegiate career, she twice served as captain of the basketball and field hockey teams. She won the 1981 Sandy Baur Award, which was given annually to the woman athlete who showed the greatest dedication, contribution and excellence in the women’s athletic program. In her senior year, she was the leading scorer on the field hockey team which finished fifth in the nation, co-captain of the basketball team which won its first New York State AIAW title and gained a quarterfinal berth in the Easterns, and played defense for the women’s lacrosse team that placed fourth in the national tournament. She was Colgate’s all-time leader in field hockey for goals scored (39) and points (44).
