HALL OF HONOR
Joe Hoague, a fullback, closed out his collegiate career between 1938-40 with honorable mention All-America and all-East selection in his senior year. Following his senior year, he was the first Colgate player to participate in the Blue-Gray Game. Hoague played professional football with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles before launching a 34-year high school coaching career in Massachusetts. His last 23 years was at Melrose High School, where he won four state titles, and five league championships. In 1980, Hoague received Coach of the Year honors by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association, and 1977 and 1978 by the Massachusetts State Coaches Association. He was inducted into the Massachusetts Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1977 and National High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1980.
