Russ Williamson played football, basketball and baseball as a freshman at Colgate and as a sophomore he was a member of the varsity basketball squad. In the fall of 1925 he became a member of the varsity football team as a center and placekicker. The 1926 season was the finest in his career, as he had four PAT’s in a win over Providence and drop kicked a field goal to tie the Syracuse game at 10-10. He came back in the Brown contest to score the initial three points and spoil Brown’s chances for a national championship by hitting a PAT that ended the game in a 10-10 tie. The 1926 season ended with Williamson a second team All-America selection on Grantland Rice’s team.
