Rich Erenberg was a four-year letterwinner on Colgate's football team. As a running back, he was a first team Division I-AA All-America by the Associated Press and American Football Coaches Association in 1983. In his senior year, he was the leading rusher, scorer and allpurpose runner in the nation in Division I-AA, as he finished with a school record 1,833 yards for the fifth best rushing season in collegiate history. Erenberg, who broke 12 NCAA Division I-AA records, was the 1983 ECAC Division I-AA Player-of-the-Year, and a two-time winner of the Andy Kerr Trophy, as Colgate's most valuable offensive player. He finished his career as Colgate's all-time leading rusher with 3,689 yards, leading the Red Raiders in rushing for three seasons and all-purpose running for four years. During his career, Erenberg had 16 100-yard rushing games, and a NCAA Division I-AA record four 200-yard rushing games back-to-back. He also set a Colgate career record for most receptions by a running back with 73. Following his collegiate career, Erenberg played four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League.
