Clarence Horning was an outstanding football player who won AllAmerica honors in 1916 while serving as a captain of the squad. His work on the offensive line at tackle helped Colgate post victories over Syracuse, Brown, Cornell and Illinois that season. He was also regarded as a fine defensive player.
