Track and Field Kicks Off New Season

Gillis and Eisner Break School Records

ITHACA, N.Y. The Colgate track and field teams opened up the indoor track season at the Greg Page Relays hosted by Cornell University on Friday and Saturday.

COACH FRANCE'S COMMENTS

"Today was an indication of our strength as a unit and depth we're building. I was extremely impressed with how our sprinters and jumpers performed coming off of a solid block of fall training highlighted by two broken records by Clare Gillis and Ethan Eisner. Many opened up with personal records and best season openers which shows much promise for the future. There were strong performances on the distance end coming off of a break period. Excited to get the full crew back on the track in January to see how we continue to progress."

WOMEN

Clare Gillis broke the school record in the 300m dash crossing the finish line at 40.15. The junior broke her own school record from a year ago at the 2023 Greg Page Relays.

Pole vault record holder Melinda Haagensen returns for her second season and places fourth in the pole vault with a 3.73m vault.

Mia Jilani placed fourth in the 500m dash finishing just in front of fellow Raider June Nathan

Frances Munger, Abby Poplawski, and Sophia Green finished fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively in the mile run. Munger finished with a 5:39.56 while Poplawski and Green each finished at 5:42. Poplawski edged Green by just five-tenths of a second.

MEN

Ben Horner came just one second shy of first place in the 1000m run. Horner came in at 2:28.30, starting off his indoor track season on the right foot.

Cole Blair started his senior season with a top three finish in both the triple jump and the long jump. Blair posted a 14.14m leap in the triple jump to place third and a 7.11m jump in the long jump for a bronze medal.
