COACH KARWECK'S COMMENTS
"For about 3 quarters, our guys were excellent today. We had UVA on their heels, we attacked them, and we fought like champions all over the field.
"We challenged ourselves this week at practice to sharpen our skills, dial in our efforts, and get better from last week. We did that, and now we need to do it for a full 4 quarters.
"We dominated at the face-off, we dominated ground balls, and so our effort and determination really showed as an improvement from last week.
"I need to do a better job this week at practice holding the standard and continuing to raise the bar. We are hungry, we have great leadership, and the Raiders will get better."

Using momentum out of the break, Colgate took its first lead of the game, 10–9, as Kiefer scored his second goal of the day and Quinson followed with a man-up goal.
Virginia responded with two goals over a four-and-a-half-minute span, capitalizing on a Raider penalty. Undeterred, Colgate answered with two goals in a 20-second span to regain a 12–11 advantage.
