BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Alex Hill of the Colgate Golf team has been named the Patriot League Golfer of the Week following a standout performance at the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa., the league office announced Wednesday.
Hill fired back-to-back sub-70 rounds to secure a runner-up finish in the 18-team field. He opened play with a 4-under-par 66 on Monday before coming back with a 3-under 67 in Tuesday's final round to finish at 7-under-par 133. Marking his second straight top-five finish, Hill ended just three strokes off the medalist pace.
A native of Victor, N.Y., Hill has hit a red-hot stretch for the Raiders, finishing under par in each of his last two outings. He placed fifth at the Columbia Autumn Invitational (Oct. 3-4) before his runner-up performance at Bucknell (Oct. 11-13). Hill has now logged three consecutive top-10 finishes.
Hill's individual performance helped propel Colgate to a team runner-up finish. The Raiders posted combined rounds of 270 (-10) and 276 (-4) to finish at 14-under-par 546. Colgate has now recorded back-to-back team runner-up finishes with one tournament remaining on its fall schedule.
