The Georgia Swarm selected Trumble in the first round with the seventh pick to notching the highest draft pick in program history

HAMILTON, N.Y — Ben Trumble, a recent graduate of Colgate University and four-year men's lacrosse player, was drafted into the National Lacrosse League by the Georgia Swarm.

Trumble is the ninth player in program history to be drafted into the NLL. Setting the bar for the program, Trumble holds the best overall draft record in Colgate men's lacrosse history. He was selected in the first round, pick No. 7, by the Georgia Swarm.

"Ben and I spoke for years figuring out if this could be his path," said head coach Matt Karweck. "We were so excited when some of the NLL Teams started to inquire about his availability. For me, I am so proud that not only does he have a great job outside of lacrosse, but he will continue to pursue this passion for years to come!"

In his time at Colgate, the 6'4" midfielder appeared in 51 games and recorded 10 starts. Over his career, he recorded 35 goals and five assists for a total of 40 points. He logged two game-winners in his career, one in 2025 in a 15–3 win over Holy Cross and another in 2022 against Holy Cross in a 14–12 victory.

"I couldn't be happier for Ben, as this has been a dream of his for a long time," said Karweck. "Not only will he get to fulfill that dream, but he'll be playing for an organization and leader (John Arlotta) that truly values human character, a great culture, and a winning attitude. It is the perfect fit for him."

The Georgia Swarm finished in the middle of the pack in the 2024-25 season. Out of 14 teams, they placed seventh with an overall 9–9 record. The team notched 214 goals over the course of the season. Seated at No. 7, the Georgia Swarm faced No. 2 Saskatchewan Rush in the quarterfinals. The Swarm concluded their season in a 13–9 defeat against the Rush.

For the Raiders' program, this marks the first individual drafted since 2016. Ironically, Leo Stouros was drafted by the Georgia Swarm in the second round as the 17th pick. Cultivating talent within the program, the Colgate men's lacrosse looks to build upon recent success and prepare players for their next chapters.

"Having Ben drafted in the NLL is such a great moment for Colgate Lacrosse as we build toward, and recruit, national championship level players," Karweck exclaimed. "He's such a great example that at Colgate, you can truly have it all."
