Thirteen Colgate Football Notes vs #4 Lehigh

| By:

Raiders come back home for final two games of season

  • Head-to-Head Series | Colgate leads the all-time series against Lehigh, 32-28-2. Neither team has won consecutive matchups since 2016-17, and the home team has won each of the past four contests.

  • Home Sweet Home | After playing three of the last four games on the road, Colgate will return to Andy Kerr Stadium for the final two games of the season against No. 4 Lehigh (11/15), and Bucknell (11/22).

  • Ranked vs. Raiders | With Lehigh coming in at No. 4 in the FCS rankings, this will mark Colgate’s third game against a ranked opponent this season. Both of their previous games against ranked opponents came down to the final possession. The Mountain Hawks are also Colgate's highest-ranked opponent since 2018 when the Raiders faced top-ranked North Dakota State in the FCS Quarterfinals. The Raiders have not faced three ranked teams in the regular season in the FCS era (2006-Present).

  • Talking Points | After scoring 42 points against Lafayette last week, Colgate has put up  at least 40 points three times this season. The last time the Raiders had three such games was in 2018, which included a 48-6 win over Lehigh.

  • Real-Deal Rookie | First-year wide receiver Matt Fogler was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive time. He caught three touchdown passes against Lafayette. He has racked up seven catches for 97 yards and four touchdowns over the past two games.

  • End Zone Reed | Reed Swanson has scored a touchdown in four of his last five games after a house call against Lafayette. The junior wide receiver is having a breakout season, leading the team with 778 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

  • Triple Threat | Three quarterbacks entered the game for Colgate against Lafayette. Each of them recorded a touchdown. Jake Stearney tossed three, Jackson Kilburg threw two and Zach Osborne added one on the ground.

  • Kilburg on the Rise | First-year quarterback Jackson Kilburg completed 90% of his passes and tossed two touchdown passes in relief as the Raiders attempted a fourth quarter comeback. The scores were the first of Kilburg’s collegiate career.

  • Allan Island | Sophomore defensive back Reece Allan recorded his first career interception against Lafayette. The pick came one week after he recorded a career-best ten tackles against Merrimack.

  • Stevenson Scores | First-year tight end Michael Stevenson joined in on the firsts, earning his first career reception and touchdown on the same play. The Ohio native caught Kilburg’s second touchdown pass with time winding down in the fourth quarter.

  • Spreading the Wealth | At least eight different players have recorded a reception in four of Colgate’s last six games. Over that time period, four Raiders recorded career-highs in receptions and yards (Reed Swanson, Max Walters, Matt Fogler, Michael Stevenson).

  • Air Raiders | Colgate has recorded more than 300 passing yards six times this season – already the most such games for the program in a single season since at least 2011. Colgate’s passing offense leads the Patriot League averaging 288.5 passing yards per contest with 25 touchdowns.

  • Lucky Number 13 | Colgate considers 13 to be a lucky number. The University celebrates Colgate Day every Friday the 13th. In 1817, 13 men met in the frontier settlement of Hamilton, N.Y., to found the Baptist Education Society of New York. They are said to have backed up their experiment in education with 13 dollars and 13 prayers, which is why 13 is considered a lucky number at Colgate.

  • With a win the Raiders would…
    • …climb back to .500 in Patriot League play
    • …have their highest ranked win in program history
    • …record their first ranked win since Nov. 2023 at Lafayette (37-34, OT)
    • …improve to 1-2 against ranked FCS foes this season
    • …boost their home record to 3-2 this season
    • …record their third straight home win over Lehigh
