HAMILTON — A four-goal first period helped the Raiders cruise to a 8-3 victory over Maine on Friday night at Class of 1965 Arena. A total of 12 different skaters posted at least one point with six different goalscorers, including first-year defender
Georgia Sambrano's first collegiate score. Junior
Elyssa Biederman also tallied her 100th career point in the win.
"It was such a great moment to share with my teammates," Biederman said on hitting the 100-point mark. "Yes, it's an individual milestone, but I couldn't have done it without each and every single one of them."
Sophomore sensations Emma Pais and Kaia Malachino added two goals each, with Malachino now totaling nine goals in nine games played so far this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED

- First-year forward Alexia Aubin ripped a shot top left that was originally called no goal on the ice. After a lengthy review, Colgate's challenge was successful and the Raiders took a commanding 3-0 lead.
- Pais netted Colgate's fourth goal of the period off a pass from Biederman with under two minutes to play in the first, but Maine answered before intermission making for a 4-1 score after 20 minutes of play.
- Sophomore forward Madeline Palumbo scored 26 seconds into the second period off a feed from Malachino.
- Malachino scored a goal of her own halfway through the second period putting Colgate ahead 6-1.
- Biederman collected her 100th career tally when she found Pais just under two minutes into the third period giving the Raiders a 7-1 lead.
