HANOVER, N.H. — Simon Labelle scored the overtime game-winning goal on a breakaway to lift Colgate past Dartmouth, 4-3 Friday evening.
Ethan Manderville,
Jake Schneider, and
Alex DiPaolo also found the back of the net for Colgate (9-11-3, 6-4-1 ECACH), helping the team win its third straight game.
Labelle's goal came with a minute and 10 seconds left in the extra period after he stole the puck away and got free before tucking a shot inside the right post. It was the first game-winning goal of the sophomore's career.
A wild back-and-forth overtime period saw the teams combine for nine shots, with each side ringing one off the post.
Carter Gylander made an impressive diving kick save to deny the Big Green from right in front. He stopped six shots in the extra period and finished with 24 saves in the game.
Dartmouth tied the game up at 3-3 with a minute and 35 seconds left in regulation, thanks to a goal from Luke Haymes, his second of the contest.
Colgate previously pulled ahead 3-2 after
Jake Schneider tallied his seventh goal of the season with 5:54 remaining in the second.
Daniel Panetta received the puck from
Tommy Bergsland and then played a perfectly timed pass off the boards that made it past a Big Green to Schneider, who beat the goalie five hole.
DiPaolo scored for the third straight game at the 11:35 mark of the middle frame to give the Raiders a 2-1 lead.
Brett Chorske slid the puck to
Dom Foglia, who passed to DiPaolo in front of the goal. The junior made a beautiful move to deke out the goalie for an easy tap-in.
Dartmouth scored two goals 54 seconds apart in the second to take a 2-1 advantage. Haymes scored his first of the game at the 7:52 mark followed by Joey Musa.
Five minutes into the first, Manderville found the back of the net to make it 1-0 Raiders.
Daniel Panetta stole a Big Green pass at the blue line before skating in on the left and dishing a pass to Manderville in front of the net. The fifth-year then tucked a shot under Dartmouth's goalie.
Colgate went a perfect two-for-two on the penalty kill and outshot the Big Green 31-27.
