HAMILTON, N.Y.— The Colgate men's hockey team scored three goals in the second period in a 4-2 senior day win over St. Lawrence at the Class of 1965 Arena on Saturday.
The Saints opened the scoring early when Tucker McIntosh passed to Max Dorrington whose shot was blocked but bounced out to Ty Naaykens who finished it off the rebound to make it 1-0.
The Raiders struck three times during the second period. It started with a goal from
Griffin Lunn off passes from
Paul McAvoy and
Colton Young.
Less than two minutes later,
Josh McKechney scored after he stuck with the puck and fired one into the back of the net.
Tommy Bergsland then scored with eight and a half minutes left after
Colton Young intercepted a pass and found him for a shot that he ripped in.
SLU pulled back within one with 27 seconds remaining in the third with a goal from Dorrington.
It would be too little too late though for the Saints, as
Elliott McDermott added an empty-netter with seven seconds remaining to make it 4-2.
The Raiders finished with a 36-29 advantage in shots as well as in the faceoff circle going 43-62.
Colgate had just two penalties on the night and went 1-1 on the penalty kill.
Mitch Benson finished the game with 26 saves in net.
