Biederman Pots Three in Raiders Win

10 Raiders Collect Points

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Colgate women's ice hockey collected a 5-1 win over Brown Friday night at Meehan Auditorium.

Freshman Elyssa Biederman powered the Raiders' offense with her first career hat trick, finding the back of the net twice in the second and once in the third.

10 Raiders collected points as Biederman and Dara Greig led the way with three points apiece.

Colgate found the back of the net early as Kaitlyn O'Donohoe tapped in the rubber off a pass from Danielle Serdachny. The Raiders continued their offensive push late in the first as senior defender Tanner Gates slid one past the keeper. Brown answered shortly after the Raiders' second goal as the period ended with a score of 2-1.

Biederman turned on the offensive jets mid-way through the second period, firing the puck over the shoulder of the Brown netminder. The freshman potted her second of the night on a back door tap-in bringing the score to 4-1 by the end of 40 minutes of play.

Colgate's strong game played dividends in the third period as Biederman netted her third goal of the game, scoring off a tic-tac-toe play in the offensive zone. Brown potted their second goal of the night with nine seconds left in the third period. Colgate outshot Brown 41-16 and edged out the Bears on the face-off dot 52 percent to 48 percent, Serdachny won 66.7 percent of her face-offs.

Hannah Murphy collected the win for the Raiders bringing her season record to 6-0 and career record to 23-3.
