Raiders Down No. 3 Yale

Hannah Murphy Stops Season High 29 Shots

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Colgate women's ice hockey downed No. 3 Yale 5-3 in an offensive second period at Ingalls Arena Saturday afternoon.

"I was pleased with our team's focus from the start of the game tonight and their willingness to play the right way from beginning to end. We got some good looks offensively and took advantage of them. Murphy did a great job, making the right saves at the right times for her team as she has" said Head Coach Greg Fargo

Danielle Serdachny recorded a team-high three points as 11 different Raiders collected points. Elyssa Biederman and Dara Greig secured two points apiece.

Hannah Murphy collected her seventh win of the season, stopping a season-high 29 shots. Murphy holds a 7-0 record this season.

In a penalty-riddled first period that saw both teams make trips to the sin bin on multiple occasions, both programs failed to capitalize through the first 20 minutes of play.

The second period opened up the floodgates as Yale capitalized within the first two minutes of play, sliding one past Murphy. The Raiders went on a run as Tanner Gates rocketed one over the shoulder of Pia Dukaric to tie the game at 1-1. Just over five minutes later Kaitlyn O'Donohoe potted her eighth goal of the season off a no-look pass from Kristýna Kaltounková

Biederman added her name to the scoresheet 17 minutes into the second, ripping the rubber top-shelf, grabbing the Raiders' third goal of the game. Sammy Smigliani found the back of the net late in the second period, scoring the unassisted goal off a breakaway. The Bulldogs bounced back in the final 40 seconds of play, bringing the score to 4-2 through 40 minutes of play.

In a back-and-forth third period, Colgate added to the scoreboard as Kas Betinol secured the empty net goal. Yale scored in the final six seconds of play as the Raiders walked away with the 5-3 win.
