BURLINGTON, Vt. – Bailey Larson (Sycamore, Illinois) scored her fifth goal of the season Friday evening as the No. 2/2 Colgate women's ice hockey team fell to the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs, 4-1, on the first day of the Windjammer Classic at Gutterson Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Vermont.
Colgate's six-game winning streak came to an end with Friday's loss, snapping the second-longest winning streak in the country and the second-longest winning streak in program history.
Larson ended Minnesota Duluth's shutout bid with 23 seconds left in the third period after the Raiders had several big scoring opportunities.
Breanne Wilson-Bennett (Markham, Ontario) and
Olivia Zafuto (New Hartford, New York) each picked up helpers on Larson's goal.
Minnesota Duluth took a 2-0 lead late in the second period as the Bulldogs capitalized on a pair of goals within 17 seconds of each other. Naomi Rogge put the Bulldogs on top 1-0 with 2:24 to play in the second period before she assisted Sydney Brodt's goal just 17 seconds later with 2:04 to go in the frame to double their lead.
The Bulldogs added another pair of goals in the third period to take a 4-0 lead before Larson's late third period goal. Ashton Bell tallied her first of the game and second point of the night nearly three minutes into the period before Lynn Astrup got into the scoring action with 6:08 to go in the third period on Minnesota Duluth's fourth goal of the game.

The Bulldogs won their third straight game and sixth in the last eight with their upset of the Raiders while the Raiders' six-game winning streak comes to an end with just its second loss of the season.

"It was a really fast hockey game tonight. We had a strong first period but then stepped away from our game as it went on. I thought UMD did a good job of capitalizing on some quality chances and really held onto momentum.
"I liked a lot of things we did tonight but it wasn't enough. We will keep doing what we've done to this point and look to grow from this."
