HAMILTON – Colgate men's' ice hockey junior
Willie Brooks (Locust, New Jersey) scored a third period goal for the Raiders Saturday night in their 3-1 loss to the No. 9/9 Harvard Crimson at Class of 1965 Arena.
After giving up three goals in the first period, the Raiders managed to shut out the Crimson over the final 40 minutes of play. Freshman goaltender
Colton Point (North Bay, Ontario) stopped all 18 shots that he faced in the final two periods after replacing starting goaltender
Charlie Finn (North Vancouver, British Columbia).
Finn tied Mark Dekanich '08 for the most games played in a career with 118 after making the start Saturday night.
Colgate's third period goal came with 13:25 to play in the final period after controlling the puck in the defensive zone and making a great breakout.
Brett Corkey (Calgary, Alberta) sent a cross-ice pass to
Mike Panowyk (Whitby, Ontario) skating up the center into the neutral zone. Panowyk skated with the puck just above the right faceoff circle on the right wing where he left the puck for Brooks. Brooks skated through the faceoff circle and fired a perfect shot through traffic past Harvard goaltender Merrick Madsen for the goal.
Brooks' goal stands as his third of the season while Corkey recorded a point for the second straight game and tied
Jake Kulevich (Marblehead, Massachusetts) for the most points on the team with 14. Panowyk also recorded a point for the second straight game.
Harvard scored three goals in the first period to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Jake Horton collected the puck behind the goal after a dump and skated out to his left to sneak home the Crimson's first goal of the game. Malone added his 11
th goal of the season with 5:30 to go in the first period on a breakaway, roofing the shot past Finn's blocker side. Tyler Moy made it 3-0 on the power play with 45 seconds to go in the period as he skated into the high slot and wristed the puck through traffic past Finn's blocker for his 11
th of the season.
The Raiders outshot the Crimson, 19-18, over the final two periods of play as they tried to fight their way back into the game.

The Raiders split their weekend with the loss to the Crimson, falling to 6-14-5 (4-7-2 ECAC Hockey) while the Crimson improve to 14-5-2 (10-4-2 ECAC Hockey) with the weekend sweep.

-Brooks tallied a career-high with his third goal of the season and his second in the last five games
-Corkey is also having a record season as he tied his career with 14 points, picking up an assist on Brooks' goal. Corkey has five goals and nine assists this season
-Panowyk tallied his fourth assist of the season and has points in back-to-back games for the Raiders
-Panowyk also played in his 100th career game for the Raiders, the first junior on the team to play in as many games
-Point came into the game as a replacement for the first time in his career, saving all 18 shots that came his way to lower his GAA to 2.83 on the season
