Potsdam, NY- The Colgate Raiders faced the third ranked team in the nation and were slightly edged by a score of 2-1.
The Clarkson Golden Knights got on the board first with a goal from Cayley Mercer. Netminder
Julia Vandyk made the initial save but couldn't stop the rebound from sliding past the goal line.
With 16 seconds remaining in the first period,
Olivia Zafuto evened the score to 1-1.
Cat Quirion took a shot that was blocked by a defender and rebounded back out to the point. Zafuto then fired on net and the puck rocketed past the shoulder of Shea Tiley. Also earning an assist on the play was
Megan Sullivan.
Halfway through the second, Vandyk made a huge save on a Golden Knight penalty shot opportunity to keep the game even.
Mercer netted her scored her second goal of the game in the opening minutes of the third period to give Clarkson the lead.
The Raiders continued to fight hard and attack the net but were not able to score the equalizing goal and were handed the 2-1 loss.
Vandyk made 35 stops in between the pipes, which ties her career high saves record. Tiley ended the night with 26 saves.
