CANTON, N.Y. – Colgate women's hockey ran into a tough St. Lawrence team on Friday night falling 5-0 to its ECAC Hockey foe.
The Saints, who received votes in this week's national poll, tallied two quick goals in the opening period and never really let up.
Colgate tried to fight its way back to knot the score with four power play opportunities but was unable to convert.
St. Lawrence added an insurance marker 31 seconds into the middle frame, which ultimately secured them the victory.
Rookie
Megan Sullivan recorded four solid chances throughout the game, while six other Colgate players added three shots each.
Junior
Ashlynne Rando posted 31 saves in the contest, including 16 in the middle frame alone.
Colgate has a quick turnaround as they head to No. 6-ranked Clarkson tomorrow for another ECAC Hockey contest at 4 p.m.

Facts & Figures• The Raiders outshot the Saints after the opening period 14-9, but St. Lawrence evened it out throughout the next two periods eventually outshooting Colgate, 36-27.

Greg Fargo's squad went 0-for-4 on the man-up situation, while the Saints converted on one of their four opportunities.
• Sullivan led the Raiders with four shots, with all of those coming in the first period.

The Difference• The Saints took the one-goal edge 3:22 into the opening period, which put the Raiders in an early hole.
• Colgate would not let up and continued with its high-pressure looking for the equalizer. St. Lawrence, however, extended its lead to 2-0 with five minutes left to play in the period after Kirsten Padalis found the back of the net on the power play following a hooking call on Colgate.
• The Saints added their third goal just 31 seconds into the middle frame before earning two more before the period was over.
• Ultimately the margin proved to be too much for the Raiders, as they couldn't make up the difference before the final whistle.
Up Next• Colgate is back in action Saturday at No. 6-ranked Clarkson at 4 p.m.
• This will be the first contest of the two-game set between these two ECAC Hockey competitors. After Saturday's game the Raiders host Clarkson in Starr Rink on Jan. 9.
