HAMILTON – The Colgate women's hockey team ran into a tough Yale squad and dropped a 3-0 decision on Friday afternoon.
The Raiders tried to convert on two early power play opportunities in the opening period but weren't able to slide one past Yale's netminder, Jaimie Leonoff.
The Bulldogs then jumped out to the 1-0 edge in that same period when Jackie Raines netted her first goal of the season. The Raiders were called for checking, awarding Yale the man-up situation. A little over a minute into the power play the Bulldogs were able to get a tip-in following an initial shot from Aurora Kennedy.
Colgate posted some more solid chances in the final two periods, including a shot off of the faceoff from
Taylor Craig midway through the second frame. Unfortunately, two more markers from the Bulldogs ultimately secured them the victory.
The Raiders have a quick turnaround as they welcome Brown on Saturday for another ECAC Hockey showdown. The game is set for a 3 p.m. puck drop.

Straight from the Source• Colgate head coach
Greg Fargo: (on his goalie's performance despite the loss) "Brittney did well for us. Anytime you play a tough opponent, we play a lot of them in our league, you look for your goalie to give you a chance to win and she did a good job of doing that tonight."
"The goals that did go in, it's tough to point the finger her way. Overall she played great and came up with big saves early in the third that allowed our team a chance to stay in the game."
