HAMILTON – Rookie
Megan Sullivan posted the game-winning goal 2:15 into overtime to hand Colgate women's hockey its first ECAC Hockey victory of the year.
After needing an extra period to do it, the Raiders defeated Brown 4-3. The other Colgate goals came from the sticks of
Hannah Rastrick ,
Miriam Drubel , and
Taylor Craig . Rastrick's goal marked her first of the season, while Drubel and Craig added their third and second, respectively.
The Raiders jumped out to the early lead just 28 seconds into the contest when Rastrick notched the game's first goal. Brown answered midway through the second period but Colgate's first short-handed marker of the season with less than two minutes to play in the frame gave the Raiders back their edge.
Again, the Bears found the tying goal three minutes into the final period to pull even at 2-2. Craig's goal in the 10th minute of that period, however, lifted the Raiders back ahead 3-2. Exactly two minutes later though Brown knotted the score for the third time in the game.
Neither team was able to convert in the remaining minutes of regulation, sending the game into overtime.
Two minutes and 15 seconds into the five-minute extra period, Sullivan found the back of the net thanks to a great feed from
Katie Case to give Colgate the win.

The Raiders are back on the ice Tuesday for a rivalry game at Cornell. The Raiders and Big Red are scheduled to play at 7 p.m.

Straight from the Source• Colgate head coach
Greg Fargo: (on the game's back-and-forth style) "It was a seesaw battle tonight. We did a lot of good things that I was very pleased with. Anytime you can come out and get the first goal it kind of sets the tone and to win the first period was huge for our club today. To their credit, we even talked about it during film, you need to play a complete game and Brown kept fighting back. They kept finding a way to grab goals and even up the score.
"I give all the credit to our leadership group today. They did a great job to make sure our bench stayed positive and responded in the right way at the right times."
