HAMILTON – Rookie
Megan Sullivan cut No. 5-ranked Quinnipiac's lead down to one in the final frame but it wasn't enough to spark a Colgate women's hockey victory.
The Raiders fell 4-1 to their nationally ranked and ECAC Hockey foe here Friday afternoon in Starr Rink.
Colgate did, however, see Sullivan net her fourth career marker. Her goal 11:37 into the third period ended the Bobcat's streak of holding their opponents scoreless on the power play. Prior to today's game Quinnipiac was 19-for-19 on the penalty kill.
The Raiders were awarded a man-up opportunity after the Bobcats were called for hooking 11:01 into the frame. 36 seconds later fellow classmates
Annika Zalewski and
Shelby Perry found Sullivan in front of the net to cut into Quinnipiac's lead.
Unfortunately, two more goals from the Bobcats, including an empty netter, would ultimately secure the visitors the win.
Colgate has a quick turnaround as they welcome Princeton on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Starr Rink.

Straight from the Source•
Colgate Head Coach Greg Fargo: (on the game) "There were a lot of positives even though we didn't get the result we would have wanted. For the most part I thought we competed really hard."
"You could definitely see it in the third period; I thought we carried a lot of the play. We started to play on the edge and play a fast game and when we did that we had a lot of success. That's really been the story of our team so far. When we compete and find that edge to play on, we do a lot of good things and we can match anyone in the league."
