Following a penalty free initial period the Raiders held the advantage on shots. However it was the Catamounts who were able to tally the games first goal. With less than five minutes to play in the period, Zuback redirected a shot, sneaking it past Rando and giving Vermont the 1-0 advantage. Walsh was given the assist on the goal.
The Raiders had a few chances of their own when
Aimee DiBella fired a shot on net from the top of the left faceoff circle. Before
Brittany Phillips was able to put away the rebound, Lanthier fell on the puck to make the save.
Junior
Jocelyn Simpson almost knocked in her fourth goal of the season but Lanthier yet again came up with another great save to stop the Raider attack.
At the 4:29 mark in the second period, senior captain Klynstra equalized for the Raiders after a scrum in front of the net. She found the free puck and slid it under the pad of Lanthier. Kueber earned her second assist of the season on the goal.
Vermont earned a power play opportunity early in the final frame after Colgate was called for having too many players on the ice. The Catamounts converted with the extra player to take back the lead 2-1. Repaci placed the puck past Rando with help from Meghan Huertas and Amanda Pelkey.
The Raiders were unable to tie the game back up and eventually fell to the Catamounts in the last period. Colgate will have a chance for revenge tomorrow as they face Vermont in the final game of a two-game series. The game is set to start at 2 p.m. and can be viewed live online
