Box Score

ALBANY, N.Y. (12/7/11) – Sophomore Pat Moore scored in double-figures for the sixth-straight game, but it wasn't enough as the Colgate men's basketball team fell to Albany 87-63 Wednesday night at SEFCU Arena.

Moore finished the game with a team-high 18 points, while junior Mitch Rolls scored 16 and senior Yaw Gyawu returned to the lineup with season-high 14.

Albany (5-4) opened the game with an 11-0 run and never looked back. The Raiders did respond with a 9-3 run off a trio of three pointers from Rolls and Moore to trim the lead to 14-9 with 14:31 remaining. Colgate (3-5) would then keep it a five-point game for the next couple of minutes, until the Great Danes went on a 22-8 run to build a 36-17 lead with 7:30 left. The Raiders would chip away at the lead with an 18-10 run to make the score 46-35 with just under a minute remaining, but a turnover in the closing seconds gave the Great Danes an easy layup as time expired to make the score 48-35 at halftime.

The Great Danes would begin the second half very similar to the first half as they expanded their lead to 58-37 with 17:28 remaining. But Colgate wouldn't go down easy as the Raiders pieced together a 22-11 run, including five-straight points from Rolls, to make the score 69-59 with 8:24 left. But Albany closed the game with an 18-4 run to claim its fifth win of the season.

Albany was led Gerardo Suero who scored a game-high 29 points on 11-14 shooting, while Mike Black and Logan Aronhalt scored 16 apiece. The Great Danes shot an amazing 65.5 percent from the field and forced 14 Colgate turnovers, while the Raiders shot 43.9 percent and won the rebound battle 30-28.

The Raiders will host St. Francis (NY) on Saturday, Dec. 10. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Cotterell Court and will be streamed live online by GateTV on Colgate All-Access.
