The Colgate men’s hockey program announced the addition of Andy Boschetto as an assistant coach in August of 2020. Boschetto joins the Raiders after spending three years with the Niagara men’s hockey program as an assistant.
“It’s my pleasure to introduce Andy Boschetto as our new assistant coach,” Colgate men’s hockey head coach Don Vaughan said. “We are very excited about this hire and thrilled that Andy will be joining us. He has a wealth of experience both as a head and assistant coach.”
Boschetto joined the Purple Eagles after spending seven seasons as the head coach of the Salve Regina University Seahawks (NCAA DIII) in Newport, Rhode Island. Boschetto led the Seahawks to three Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Hockey League championship games in the past five seasons, winning the 2015-16 league championship for the first time in school history and leading the Seahawks to their first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.
“Andy is a perfect fit for Colgate and has all the qualities that we were looking for in an assistant,” Vaughan added. “It became evident during the interview process that he is someone we can trust, he is Committed and a Team First guy. His honest approach to the game and his ability to connect with his players really stands out.”
Under Boschetto, the Seahawks finished the 2016-17 season with a 14-8-4 overall record, with the .615 winning percentage ranking as the highest for a single season in the program’s history. Boschetto also led Salve Regina to a program-record 17 wins during the 2015-16 campaign that culminated in an NCAA Division III Tournament berth.
Salve Regina improved its win total each of Boschetto’s first six seasons at the helm of the program after the team went 1-23-1 the year prior to his arrival. Nine former Seahawks coached by Boschetto have gone on to play professional hockey in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL).
Prior to Salve Regina, Boschetto was an assistant coach at Curry College for the 2009-10 campaign. In his lone season at Curry, the Colonels posted a record of 19-9-1 and won their first ECAC Northeast title since 2005 to advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament. That season, Curry had four players named to the ECAC Northeast All-Conference Team and nine players named to the conference’s All-Academic Team. Boschetto’s coaching career began in the 2008-09 season as an assistant coach at Proctor Academy in Andover, New Hampshire.
Boschetto played two seasons of collegiate hockey at Hobart College from 2001-05, before completing his career with two seasons at Suffolk University.
A native of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Boschetto is a 2005 graduate of Suffolk with a bachelor’s degree in operations and strategic management. He and his wife Stacey have two sons, Rome and Lucca, and one daughter, Adeline.
