Field Hockey Stumbles on the Road, 3-2

Raiders fall short late in scoring

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Colgate field hockey tried to mount a comeback in the second half but ultimately fell 3-2 to Lock Haven in its first road match of the season Friday evening at Charlotte E. Smith Field.

GARETH TERRETT'S COMMENTS
"We are disappointed with our performance today. We did not reach the standards we expect from one another, and as a result, the game got away from us. We didn't execute the simple skills at the level we normally do, which allowed a very good Lock Haven team to control areas of the game for too long.

"Credit to our players—they continued to fight and compete right through to the final whistle. However, we gave ourselves too much to do heading into the final stages of the game.

"We will now rest, recover and refuel before getting back to work. Our focus will be on raising our standards in training and preparing ourselves to perform at the level we expect during a tough upcoming weekend."

  • The Raiders did not give up as they earned a late penalty corner, allowing Widdowson to find the back of the net off a pass from Maddie Rohlfing to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the final two minutes.
