Colgate Falls 2-1 in Home Opener

McCloskey scores lone goal


HAMILTON - Ava McCloskey scored in the 76th minute to bring Colgate back within one but the Raiders ultimately fell to Canisius 2-1 on Thursday night at Beyer-Small '76 Field.

MOMENTS OF THE MATCH
  • McCloskey had an early opportunity turned aside by the Canisius goalkeeper.
  • The Golden Griffins took a 2-0 lead in the 26th minute with two goals in 45 seconds.
  • The Raiders outshot Canisius 11-2 in the first half but remained behind 2-0.
  • Colgate continued to apply pressure to Canisius but was unable to put efforts on target.
  • McCloskey put away a rebound after a cross from Brooke Bodamer to put Colgate within one.
  • Fiorella Perone picked up a second yellow in the 80th minute so the Raiders played the final 10 minutes down a player.
