Raiders Open Up 2026 Outdoor Track Season

Epstein, George set program records

ORLANDO - Colgate opened up its outdoor track and field season at the UCF Black and Gold Invitational over the weekend at UCF Track & Field/Soccer Complex.

The meet was highlighted by program records set by Sam Epstein and Kiran George.

COACH FRANCE'S COMMENTS
"We're excited to open up with some strong marks and a ton of personal best performances across the board. This group showed up ready to compete, and it's clear the work put in during the short offseason is already paying off with two school records set by both Samuel Epstein and Kiran George.

Grateful for the opportunity to compete down in Florida; an awesome experience and a great way to set the tone for the season ahead."

WOMEN

Kiran George placed third in the high jump with a record setting 1.72m leap. 

Juliet Drury finished second in the 1500m run with a time of 4:51.28. Allison Bender and Ameya Eddy finished just behind Drury in fourth and sixth, respectively.

Melinda Haagensen placed seventh in the pole vault with a vault of 3.72m.

Whitney Smith placed 12th in the javelin throw while Samantha Pellerin placed 13th.

MEN

Will Keiser earned a gold medal in the 1500m run with a time of 3:56.97. Jackson Vogel crossed the finish line just behind Keiser in fourth.

Sam Epstein set the program record in the pole vault with a 4.68m mark. Epstein placed fifth in the event.

Roman Steis and Andrew McGraw were each able to secure a medal in the 5000m run. Steis took silver while McGraw grabbed bronze.

John Griffith finished second in the 2000m steeplechase with a time of 5:53.83.

Travis Rusak placed eighth in the javelin throw with a mark of 54.27m.

UP NEXT
The Raiders stay in the warm weather for the NC State Raleigh Relays next weekend. The meet is set to begin on Thursday and finish up Saturday.
