BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Colgate amassed eight home runs, including a program-record seven round-trippers in the opener, to beat Lehigh 10-9 and 9-8 in a Saturday sweep at Leadership Park.
The Raiders after Saturday's outburst break their own Patriot League record for home runs in a single-season with 43 – good for 25th nationally. The previous record was held by the 2003 league champion Raiders who bashed 40 home runs in 34 games.
Colgate's seven bombs in Game 1 broke the program's single-game record of five, most recently matched last February against Towson, and were the second most in a game this season. Texas Tech, Michigan, Oklahoma, and UCLA hit eight in a game.
COACH LAMISON-MYERS' COMMENTS
"What a day. We needed to put together two complete games and that is exactly what we did. What Matt has done with our hitters in such a short time is nothing short of impressive. We have embraced our youth and ran with it. What happened today was incredible but what is important is we took our walks and hit-by-pitches, and we manufactured runs proving we can score any way."
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nora Megenity (2), Marina Taveras (2), Lily Haluska, Kayla Martin, and Mackenzie Lewis all went yard in the first game. Martin's two-out, two-strike game-tying solo shot in the top of the seventh sent the game to extras, where Haluska capped the 10-9 victory with a solo blast in the top of the ninth.
Kelcie McGraw picked up both wins in the circle, improving to 7-7 overall. She tossed three shutout innings of relief in Game 1 before going 6 2/3 innings in Game 2. She allowed seven earned runs in the nightcap, six of which came in the bottom of the seventh, but Izzy Ervin-Agudelo's grand slam in the top of the seventh provided just enough run support to hold off Lehigh's late rally, 9-8.
Megenity went 5-for-10 with two homers and three RBIs in the doubleheader. Ervin-Agudelo, Martin, and Taveras racked up four RBIs apiece to lead the Raiders offensively. Analis Raffaelli picked up two doubles on her way to finishing 3-for-9 as Colgate posted 21 total hits and 12 extra base knocks.
The two wins mark Colgate's first doubleheader sweep at Lehigh since 2007 and moves the Raiders to 2-0 in Patriot League play for the first time since 2022.
