PHILADELPHIA – Colgate softball erupted for 18 runs on 14 hits to defeat Drexel 18-2 Wednesday afternoon at Drexel Softball Field.
The Raiders have outscored their opponents 29-4 over the last two games, totaling 31 hits in that stretch.
Lily Haluska and
Nora Megenity paced the offense, combining for six hits, nine RBIs, and three home runs. Megenity (two), Haluska,
Mia Cascio, and
Mackenzie Lewis all went deep as Colgate finished with five home runs. Cascio and
Izzy Ervin-Agudelo added two hits apiece.
In the circle,
Maya Servedio tossed a complete game, allowing two runs on two hits with eight strikeouts. The win pushed Servedio past 200 career strikeouts.
Colgate has hit 36 home runs this season, 17 more than the next closest Patriot League team, Boston University (19). The Raiders' 18 runs were their most in a game since an 18-2 win over Yale on March 19, 2017.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Haluska's two-run homer and Megenity's three-run blast gave Colgate a 5-0 lead through two innings.
The Raiders broke the game open in the sixth, scoring 13 runs on seven hits. Haluska delivered two RBI doubles, while Lewis, Megenity, and Cascio added home runs in the inning.
Tealla Rivera drew a bases-loaded walk and Ervin-Agudelo lined an RBI single before Cascio capped the scoring with a two-run homer to right-center.
Servedio carried a no-hitter into the sixth before Drexel led off the bottom half with a bloop single. The Dragons eventually plated two runs in the frame, but Servedio closed the game with her eighth strikeout to secure the 18-2 victory.
