Colgate Falls to RPI

Metz logs third goal of the season

TROY, N.Y. - Bobby Metz scored the lone goal as Colgate dropped a 6-1 game to RPI on Saturday night at Houston Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Engineers took the lead at 16:55 with a goal by Matthew Buckley. Colgate responded with offensive efforts, culminating in Bobby Metz scoring at 10:10 to equalize, assisted by Josh Niedermayer. However, the Engineers regained the lead with a power-play goal by Luciano Wilson at 9:24, closing the period ahead 2-1.

The second period began with Colgate pressing offensively, generating several shots on goal, but unable to capitalize as Nate Krawchuk stopped attempts from Antonio Fernandez and Jacob Napier. Despite the early pressure, the Engineers widened their lead with a goal from Tyler Wallace at 14:30, followed shortly by Ian Scherzer's score at 13:15, making it 4-1 after two.

The Engineers extended their lead at 1:00 with a goal by Rainers Rullers, assisted by Dovar Tinling and Jimmy Goffredo. Shortly after, Alfred Lindberg added another goal for the Engineers at 2:53, further increasing the deficit.

Despite several offensive efforts, including shots from Max Nagel and Daniel Panetta, Colgate was unable to find the back of the net. The Engineers' defense held firm while Dyck made multiple saves to limit further scoring. The period concluded with the Engineers maintaining a 6-1 victory over Colgate.

GAME NOTES

Metz netted his third goal of the season.
Andrew Takacs and Reid Dyck combined for 30 saves in goal.
Joshua Niedermayer logged his eighth assist of the season.
