Track and Field Takes Part in Cornell Invite

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Colgate men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Cornell Invitational in Ithaca, N.Y. on Saturday.

COACH FRANCE'S COMMENTS
"Today's meet at Cornell was an important opportunity for us to sharpen and continue developing as we build into the season. I was really pleased with the marks posted by our young group—they're promising performances and a strong indicator of where we're headed as we prepare for some big competitions ahead."

MEN

Joel Douzanis and Jack Latson competed in the weight throw, with throws of 12.29m and 11.10m, respectively. Douzanis and Latson also represented the Raiders in the shot put final.

Sophomore Tyler Robinson broke into the top 10 in the mile, earning ninth place with a time of 4:25.49. First-year Michael Doyle came in shortly behind at 11th with a time of 4:26.33. Finley Tobin, Joseph Belford, and Ryan Wilson followed Doyle's performance.

Jedidiah Guenther competed in the long jump, placing eighth with a jump of 6.10m. Guenthner also competed in the 200m.

Jack Gabrielle, Finn Kosich, Gabriel Kramer-Griffith, and Finley Tobin represented the Raiders in the 4x400m. Kosich, Gabrielle, and Kramer-Griffith also represented Colgate in the 800m.

The 3000m final had three Colgate entries, Mason Telatnik, Liam Burgess, and Andrew Sullivan.

WOMEN

Colgate had six entries in the mile, with first-year Emma Bergfalk being the Raiders' strongest performer. Bergfalk placed 11th out of 24 entries, logging in a time of 5:13.05.

Sara Tabibian placed seventh in the 400m, crossing the line in 59.19 seconds.

Colgate's women had four runners in the top ten in the 3000m final. Ava Kletti took sixth with a time of 10:38.90, followed closely by Ameya Eddy who crossed the finish five seconds after Kletti for seventh place. Junior Frances Munger and first-year Beatriz Engels rounded out the top ten competitors with Munger at ninth and Engels at tenth place.

Sonia Erbe earned a podium spot for the high jump, taking third with a jump of 1.56m.

Georgia Deep and Julianna Hallyburton competed in the pole vault final. First-year Taylor Gearheart competed in the shot put final.

The Raiders will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Penn Classic hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on Feb. 6th.
