Softball Drops Doubleheader at Siena

Colgate falls 7-0 and 6-2 on the road

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — Quinn Livesay and Analisa Raffaelli cranked home runs but Colgate (10-19) dropped both ends of its doubleheader at Siena (13-10), 7-0 and 6-2, Saturday afternoon.

Livesay and Raffaeli left the yard back-to-back in the second game of Saturday's twinbill. Livesay, who slashed nearly .500 over spring break, capped off the week by leading the team with three hits.

Game 1 | Siena 7, Colgate 0
  • Most of Siena's damage was done in a four-run fifth that broke the game open. The Saints led 3-0 when they sent eight batters to the plate, using four hits and capitalizing on three Colgate errors to establish a 7-0 advantage.
  • Claire Whalen completed a nice double play, catching a line drive in center and then firing home to beat the runner trying to tag up, to end the fifth inning.
  • Colgate loaded the bases with one out in the seventh, but back-to-back popups ended the game with the Saints securing the clean sheet.
  • Jillian Herbst, Raffaelli, Livesay, Lily Haluska, and Amanda DeSantis each had one hit.

Game 2 | Siena 6, Colgate 2
  • Siena scored all six runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth – and the Saints had been held without a hit going into the frame. Alexa Acker dealt four scoreless – and hitless – innings until a one-out single in the fifth, but then six straight batters reached base.
  • The Saints scored six runs on six hits in all, aided by a defensive miscue and a three-run homer, to build a 6-0 lead after five innings.
  • Livesay and Raffaelli drilled back-to-back home runs almost to the same spot over the wall in left field for Colgate's two runs on the day in the top of the sixth.
  • Livesay paced the team with two hits in the game. Acker yielded the loss allowing six runs (two earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts over six innings.
