HAMILTON - Reid Dyck logged his first career shutout and
Simon Labelle netted his first career hat trick to help the Raiders skate past Brown, 4-0, on Saturday night at Class of 1965 Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Simon Labelle broke the deadlock with a power-play goal at 14:04, assisted by Ryan Sullivan and Michael Neumeier. Labelle struck again shortly after at 15:24, with assists from Isaiah Norlin and Brett Merner, extending the lead. This offensive push allowed Colgate to finish the period ahead 2-0.
The second period commenced with Colgate applying early pressure, highlighted by Isaiah Norlin's missed shot that was saved by Tyler Shea. Despite a series of shots from Owen Neuharth and Robby Newton, Shea continued to thwart Colgate's efforts. Dyck maintained Colgate's defensive stance, saving multiple attempts from the Bears, including Ben Poitras and Tanner Hartman.
Midway through the period, Colgate effectively killed off a power play after a penalty on Davide Patella, maintaining the scoreline. Later, Colgate had a power-play opportunity following a tripping penalty on the Bears' Matthew Cataldo, with Brett Merner's shot hitting the pipe, narrowly missing the goal. The period concluded with no change in score, leaving the Raiders ahead 2-0 after two.
Colgate maintained control throughout the third period, initiating with a solid defensive effort and consistent attacking plays. Brett Merner extended the lead to 3-0 at 15:13 with an even-strength goal, assisted by Michael Neumeier and Ryan Spinale.
Labelle capitalized on an empty net at 16:53, securing a hat trick and further solidifying the advantage. Colgate effectively managed the remaining minutes, closing the game with a 4-0 victory over the Bears.
