HAMILTON — Colgate fell to Boston University in a closely contested match on senior day, with a final score of 3–2. The Raiders' offensive efforts included two goals, one each in the second and fourth quarters.
Despite outshooting the Terriers on goal with eight shots on target, Colgate could not overcome Boston U.'s overtime goal.
COACH CORNELL-DEANGELIS' COMMENTS
"This group of seniors has been incredible role models. They are true leaders and very connected to every single player on this team.
"You can see it in how they connect and play for each other. And so it was awesome just being able to start all nine seniors and have that special celebration for them today. And it was such a close game.
"Hard fought game against a very talented BU team. And I think one thing that we're looking forward to is we get to travel abroad and we get to play a few more games with these seniors. And we knew that it was a special time to be able to do that with an amazing group of women."
HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate got caught off guard early as the match began with BU quickly capitalizing on an early opportunity. The Terriers took a 1–0 lead following a penalty corner awarded in less than a minute. The Raiders' defense held firm under continuous pressure, highlighted by Allison Lemmon's defensive save. Colgate was unable to equalize by the end of the first quarter, which concluded with the Terriers leading 1–0.
BU had an early opportunity in the second quarter with a penalty corner, but their shot attempt was saved by Van Kempen. Colgate capitalized on a penalty corner late in the quarter, as Hannah Marcotrigiano scored her first goal of the season in the final minute of the second quarter, leveling the score at 1–1.
The third quarter between the Raiders and BU ended without any changes on the scoreboard, maintaining a 1–1 tie. Colgate's Lauren Widdowson earned a penalty corner, leading to a blocked shot attempt by Ahria Dhillon. Neither side could break the deadlock before the quarter concluded.
In the fourth quarter, Colgate initially extended their lead with a goal by Morgan Willis in the 55th minute, marking her tenth goal of the season. The Terriers responded, leveling the score at 2–2 after an offensive surge. Regulation ended in a 2–2 draw after both teams' defensive efforts held firm in the final minutes.
The overtime began with the Terriers quickly earning a penalty corner in the first 30 seconds. The Terriers capitalized on the opportunity and secured a 3-2 victory for BU.
GAME NOTES
- Colgate honored its nine seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program.
- Willis scored a goal, her 10th of the season, and took two shots on target. She ranks third in Patriot League play for the season in goals.
- Marcotrigiano also found the back of the net with her only shot of the game.
- Claire Van Kempen, as the goalkeeper, made three saves while facing six shots.

Colgate concluded its 2025 with an overall record of 4-13 with a conference record of 0-6. The Raiders will travel over the winter break to Spain to play field hockey overseas.
