Men’s Swim & Dive Wins Five Events at Lafayette

Raiders win five events, earn 18 podium finishes in Patriot League dual

EASTON, Pa. – The Colgate men's swimming and diving team totaled five first-place finishes and found the podium 19 times in a 185-109 defeat at Lafayette on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Colgate saw four different swimmers capture gold in individual events. David Brophy secured the top spot in the 200 Free with a time of 1:42.92, just under a second faster than his closest competitor. Matthew Szypula had a big day in the 200 Back, clocking in with a first-place time of 1:57.48 to take gold.

Michael Granin (200 Breast) and Gavin Perez (100 IM) each secured gold with respective times of 2:15.26 and 56.13, raising Colgate's total individual victories to four on the day. 

Colgate's 200 Free Relay closed out the day with Colgate's fifth overall victory, touching the wall with a first-place time of 1:26.83 – more than four seconds faster than their second team led by Drew Hicks, Timothy Brooks, Ben Dudley, and Scott Pejic (1:30.89) who took silver.

Colgate is back in action Friday, Nov. 7, when the Raiders take on Le Moyne. The divers will be competing in Hamilton, while the swimmers will compete against the Dolphins in Syracuse. Both start times are 5 p.m.
